Have you ever met someone online??? If you have, then you will probably understand exactly what I am talking about. It's that look from people who have never done the "online" thing give you when you say I met my boyfriend / husband online. I hate that look. It's like one of those how could you.......or I never thought you would do that......etc. It's the look that says you must have either been crazy or insane or just desperate to search online. People have been meeting online for a good 10 years now and you would think by now people wouldn't be so shocked by it. I guess people are old fashion whether they want to admit it or not.
My mom has asked both me and my sister why we mess with the online meeting. She says it's dangerous. You don't know who you are meeting or what they are capable of. Well isn't that true of someone you meet in the grocery store, at a bar, at work, at church, etc??? You don't know who people are until at least 6 - 9 months into a relationship regardless of where you meet them. At least online you get to have a few conversations and see several pictures before you waste the time doing your hair etc. You would be surprised how many red flags can pop up in just a few online / phone conversations. And when and if they do then it's alot easier to "hide" from the person versus trying to find an excuse to leave the person.
So what is wrong with the online thing? NOTHING in my book...that's how I met D and I've lucked out. I have several friends that have met guys online and some have worked out and others haven't. Now don't get me wrong we have met our share of toads but I met just as many toads online as at the bar. My sister met a toad online and he ended up stealing my credit card and going to town at my expense. I had a friend hooked up with a toad that was a friend years ago and he managed to use her for her money, a new / used car, and cheat on her. Which one is better? Neither....they are both toads. At least online I'm not drunk with my beer goggles on and going to have regrets the next time I see this guy.
And you know, I think more people have done it than are willing to admit. Maybe just maybe those that give you that crazy look are either the toads or toads wouldn't give them the time of day. How can it be if you are over 25 and under 60 in this day and age to not have even given it a little try? I polled my office which is ALL guys and only got one that admitted to it. I think a couple of them are full of it but I'll let their pride stay intact LOL.
The next time someone asks me where did I meet D...maybe I'll say the strip club....he was a dancer. LOL Let's see the looks I get then.
Have a great MONDAY!!!!
